Preschool Puppets

Preschoolers love to show off. One great way to help them express themselves in a positive way is with preschool puppets. With just a little imagination your preschool child can create an imaginary world with all sorts of funny and heroic characters. Kids can put on a puppet show by making up their own stories or you can help them by reading them a classic children’s story and using that for the script. A story like the Grimm’s folktale the Town of Bremen Musicians is a favorite of children and can be told with animal puppets – a donkey, a dog, a cat, and a rooster.

Aesop’s fables like the story of the Lion and the Mouse or the Tortoise and the Hare are wonderful subject matters for puppet shows as well because they teach valuable lessons and morals that can help preschool children learn the importance of friendship and helping and the value of being patient and persistent.

Many other fairytale stories can be acted out with a beautiful princess puppet, a handsome prince puppet and a fiery dragon puppet to make a great puppet show. Puppet shows can be a great preschool class project or at home your child can invite their friends to come and help with a puppet show or to just be in the audience.

You can help children create their own handmade puppets or buy preschool puppets online or in stores for them. There are all sorts of whimsical characters available. Kids can make their own puppet stage by simply using the back of a chair with an old sheet over it or you can get them a real wooden puppet theatre complete with curtains, marquee and a pretend clock with show times.

Putting on a puppet show or just playing with puppets is fabulous fun for preschool children and kids of all ages as well as grownups too. You can help the children in your life put on their own puppet shows and create some childhood memories that will last for years to come.
